Ad Hoc Direct Mail Campaign A medium sized direct mail user regularly utilises CMS’ Quick Quotes service for their ad hoc direct mail campaigns. The clients’ initial requirement from a mail supplier review was to improve response handling efficiencies from their Direct Mail activity. CMS developed a single operator service solution on behalf of the client, which not only delivered cost savings of £9,000 per campaign but also significantly reduced contact centre lost call volumes.




High Volume Direct Mail User


High Volume Direct Mail User CMS were commissioned to undertake a comprehensive review of the postal services markets on behalf of a client with an annual postal spend of £6m. The review consisted of a full audit of current spend with the incumbent supplier, pre-tender supplier selection, tender creation & management and operator response evaluation.

CMS managed the entire process from start to finish, minimising client involvement until the appropriate stage of the process. The results of the tender process delivered cost savings of £500,000 and significant service benefit improvements.





Incumbent supplier cost optimisation


CMS conducted a high level audit for a UK not-for-profit organisation whose annual mail spend was £5m. Inline with CMS’ mail review model; post-audit, CMS conducted a review of the mail services used by the organisation and established that by changing distribution products cost savings that exceeded £300,000 could be achieved - without the need for a change of supplier. This review concluded that there would be no degradation in service levels and in some cases the service level would be improved.

Regular volume mail user Having optimised their mail output with services from Royal Mail a high volume regular mailer decided to implement an alternative solution for their mail. Because of the VAT implications a Customer Direct Access agreement was negotiated and following a detailed tender process, an upstream carrier selected. The implementation resulted in an improved service and cost savings of over 10%.
